The key for locating the production date is the engine number, which is located under the oil filler cap.
The decoding diagram is as follows: Ex. Engine No. 104EB 4389 9485 This engine number belongs to a 1000cc four cylinders 16 valves (engine identifier 104EB) of the K 100 series which was produced in the forty-third week of 1989 (4389) while 9485 is the serial number of this engine.
As with K-series motorcycles, the frame number and engine number do not match.
